Toasters
The Smeg two-slice toaster, in nine colors, to match your range or your fridge
The Smeg toaster is a small decision between the big ones. And we link it in nine colors, more than any other Smeg small appliance on our site, so one of those colors can sit beside your range or your fridge.
A range or a fridge takes weeks to choose, and a made-to-order range can take months to arrive. But the Smeg toaster is $230 at Abt in late September 2026, and it brings a color onto the counter that you see every morning. So it's a small break between the big decisions, and a way to carry the color of the bigger pieces across the kitchen.
Most people buy the Smeg toaster for the way it looks, and that's a good reason. Then the toaster has to make toast, and that part is worth reading about before you choose a color.
You'd like one piece on the counter in the color of your range, your fridge or a Smeg kettle, and you toast two slices at a time.
Your household toasts in bulk, or you want a toaster that browns evenly without a warm-up. Smeg's TSF03 has four slots with two controls.
One full year from Smeg USA, on parts and labor.
Amazon or Abt Electronics, depending on the color.
What the Smeg toaster does
The Smeg TSF01 toasts two slices, in two slots 1.4 inches wide, and a knob chooses among six browning levels. Then backlit buttons choose reheat, defrost or bagel, and the bagel setting toasts one side of the slice only. And the toast pops up by itself when it's done.
The Smeg toaster's body is steel with a polished chrome top, while the base is plastic. And the crumb tray is stainless steel and comes out for cleaning, while the cord wraps into the base. The toaster runs at 980 watts.
What the Smeg toaster doesn't do
The Smeg toaster takes two slices at a time and has no long slot, so a household that toasts in bulk is better served by Smeg's four-slot TSF03, which has two separate controls.
The Smeg toaster's size counts too. The toaster is 12.2 inches wide, 7.8 inches tall and 7.7 inches deep, and it weighs 5 pounds, so one owner below finds it a little larger than most toasters. And the warranty is one year from Smeg USA, so a fault in the second year is yours to pay for.
What owners say about the Smeg toaster
On Amazon, the Smeg toaster scores 4.4 out of 5 from 3,866 ratings, across the colors we link (September 2026). Owners write most about how solid the toaster feels and how it looks, and the bagel setting gets its own praise.
"Great toaster! Heavy duty/sturdy; will likely last a long time (as opposed to my previous toaster, which was not inexpensive, but failed after a couple of years). Beautiful esthetics; nice, wide slots; versatile controls."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, August 2026, in black
"What really stood out for me, though, is the bagel function. I love to toast everything bagels, that has garlic and other seasonings on the side, and with other toasters I’ve ended up with burnt, bitter garlic more times than I can count."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, October 2025, in black
"It toasts well, slots are perfect for bread and bagels. It is a little larger than most toasters but fits on our counter ok."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, July 2026
But not every owner of the Smeg toaster is happy, and the complaints are about the toast itself.
"First, it toasts unevenly. We had hoped this was temporary and the toaster just needed to be broken in. A good year or so later and it is still terrible."
Amazon customer, verified purchase, March 2026, in pastel green
"Second, it absolutely requires a round of preheating before you can expect it to do anything but dry out your bread."
The same owner, March 2026
The pastel green owner's toaster was still toasting unevenly after a year, which is when Smeg's one-year warranty ends.
The Smeg toaster's colors, and where to buy each color
Pastel green, pastel blue, slate grey and matte black are sold on Amazon. But red, pink, cream, white and navy are sold by Abt Electronics, a family-owned appliance store in Glenview, Illinois, and each of those colors was $230 at Abt in late September 2026. So the seller can change with the color you choose, and the delivery and returns change with it.
Abt takes most items back within 30 days in their original packaging, and it may charge the return shipping. But Amazon's returns follow the seller on each listing. And whichever seller you choose, the warranty is Smeg USA's. Only one Smeg color is missing from this list, because Smeg sells that color on its own website alone.
Matching the Smeg toaster to the rest of the kitchen
The Smeg toaster comes in the same color names as Smeg's kettle, so the toaster and the kettle can sit side by side in one color, and the Smeg kettle article covers the kettle in full. But the toaster and the kettle don't always come from the same seller, because in red, pastel blue and navy, one piece is sold on Amazon and the other by Abt.
The Essential Guide's rule for a colorful kitchen is two colors, a neutral of cream, white or black and a color you remember. So the Smeg toaster works best in the color of the range or the fridge, rather than as a third color of its own. And the toaster and kettle guide shows the other makers that put one color on both pieces.
Who makes the Smeg toaster
Smeg is an Italian appliance maker based in Guastalla, near Reggio Emilia, and Vittorio Bertazzoni founded it in 1948. And Smeg began making small appliances in 2014, so the toaster is on the newer side of the company. As for safety, there's no recall on record for this toaster at the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (checked September 2026).
Before you buy the Smeg toaster
- Slices: if you toast four slices at a time, choose Smeg's four-slot TSF03 instead.
- Color: if you're matching a kettle, choose the same color name on both.
- Seller: check who sells your color, because the returns are that seller's.
- Space: measure the counter, because the toaster is 12.2 inches wide.
