Who makes it, and what to know
Fisher & Paykel is a New Zealand appliance brand that has been part of China's Haier Group since 2012. It does not say where these ranges are made; Abt's listing says Thailand. Fisher & Paykel's warranty: two years, parts and labor, with no registration needed, and it passes to a later owner of the home. All gas, so it runs from a gas line and an ordinary 120-volt outlet. The Series 7 is simpler than the Series 9: three oven functions instead of nine, no self-clean, and a storage drawer rather than a warming drawer, for about $1,200 less at Abt. Fisher & Paykel says the oven fits a 32 lb turkey. You buy from Abt Electronics, a family-owned appliance and electronics store in Glenview, Illinois, open since 1936. Abt handles delivery and returns: most items go back within 30 days in their original packaging, and Abt may charge the return shipping. The warranty is Fisher & Paykel's.

How Fisher & Paykel rates
Fisher & Paykel ranges, scored out of 10 on eight measures. The reason sits under every score, and price is compared on the Scorecard.
Fisher & Paykel's own site never says where the Classic ranges are made. Abt lists them as made in Thailand, and the April 2026 federal recall of its professional gas ranges names Fisher & Paykel's own plant in Thailand as the maker. Owned by Haier since 2012.
Two years parts and labor with no registration, and the warranty passes to the next owner. No cosmetic exclusion is written in. Commercial use cuts it to one year, parts only, and this year's five-year extension covers the professional ranges only.
Fisher & Paykel's own technicians plus authorized partners, booked and tracked online. A Seattle repair shop says Fisher & Paykel owners it sends elsewhere often come back for a replacement quote 'because they couldn't find service'.
No recall on the Classic ranges. Fisher & Paykel's only US recall, in April 2026, covered about 433 of its professional gas ranges whose ovens could light late, with 18 reports and one minor burn.
At Abt, 4.5 stars from 38 reviews on the 36 inch Series 9, many collected through a promotion, but 3.0 stars from 5 reviews on the 30 inch Series 7. BBB A+ with 57 complaints in three years, and no US Trustpilot profile.
Classic ranges come in red, white or black, each $1,000 over stainless. No custom color and no sample. The only colored part sold separately is a $280 kick strip, so the range color is permanent.
The colored ranges are in stock at two dealers, with one red model ten days from delivery at Plesser's. At P.C. Richard the carrier calls within 5 to 7 business days. Abt lists all twelve colored models as pre-order, and Fisher & Paykel publishes no lead time.
Fisher & Paykel's own team carries the range in and up stairs, but 'we are not able to offer installation', and its own pages disagree on taking the old range away. Plesser's delivers to the curb; US Appliance sells room of choice at $199 an order.

What owners say
Owner reviews on Abt.com, the store our links go to, pooled across the red, white and black versions of this range (5 in all). Of the 5 most recent we read, 0 say they were collected as part of a promotion, meaning the reviewer received something for writing it. Too few to be a record either way. Read on September 29, 2026. Quotes are unedited, and we include the most common complaint as well as the praise.
“A solid oven/stove but it has baffling UI choices. There is no preheat function. Why? And the temperature knob--who designed this? Truly, who? Some intervals are 50 degrees, some are 80 degrees but they take up the same space--and the set points are arbitrary. 380 degrees? Who has ever needed THAT temperature??”
“We love our new Fisher Paykel slide in range/stovetop. It works well and looks great!”
“Cleaning the base of the gas burners themselves - if there are splatter stains from cooking or if water has boiled over - is really difficult. The instructions say to use a toothbrush with soapy water (dishwasher liquid) but that doesn't work that well. Ditto for the grates, burner caps and rings. I've soaked them in soapy water and gently rubbed them with a microfiber cloth or soft scourer but that doesn't work. Also, if water has boiled over and has stained the base of the burner stand, you can't directly remove that base and it's very awkward to clean in the holes. I try and address spills directly but you have to wait obviously for the burner to cool and by then the spill seems engrained.”
