Who makes it, and what to know
Café is a brand of GE Appliances, which is owned by Haier and based in Louisville, Kentucky. It was a GE product line from 2007 and became a brand of its own in 2018, with its own store and its own warranty. The warranty is one year on the whole appliance, parts and labor. On Café's site it scores 4.0 out of 5 across 1,931 owner reviews, and 203 of those (11%) are one star. That is about one in ten. The one-star reviews we read describe compressor noise, repeat ice maker replacements and, in one case, no service technician in the owner's area. Before you buy, check that Café has service cover where you live. You buy from Abt Electronics, a family-owned appliance and electronics store in Glenview, Illinois, open since 1936. Abt handles delivery and returns; the warranty is Café's. Abt takes most items back within 30 days in their original packaging, and may charge the return shipping.
